Studioplex, the live/work artist's community in Atlanta’s historic Old Fourth Ward, will host its next Art Walk (www.studioplexlofts.com) on Friday, February 26 from 6:00-9:00 P.M. These monthly Art Walks at Studioplex are free and open to the public. Highlights will include the following: A “Pin Up” show and “silent auction” of photographs by the“ Woman in Focus” group (www.womeninfocus.us) to benefit CARE Atlanta in loft #138. A great chance to get a great deal on local photographer’s art. Also featuring Lorikay Stone’s Paris Photography in Loft #104 www.LorikayPhotography.com, Angie Wehunt of Angie’s Folk Arts in loft #102 www.angiesfolkhearts.com, The SCAD gallery is featuring Brett Callero of www.vicemonkey.com in loft #143. And many more lofts will be open featuring local artist and business.
Jack Art Gallery (www.JackArtGallery.com) will feature works by local and national artists including Alan Thornell. As special showing of his work is schedule for Wednesday, February 10 with proceeds benefiting Georgia Equality. Jack Art Gallery is located in the Pavilion at Studioplex.
THE FOLLOWING GALLERIES, ARTISTS AND LOCAL BUSINESSES WILL PRESENT THEIR WORK DURING THE STUDIOPLEX ART WALK ON FEB. 26:
Janke Studios (www.jankestudios.com), Atlanta’s premier glassblowing studio, is hosting a guest artist on the glassblowing trailer. In addition, Janke Studio’s will have bead makers inside the gallery (Studio G-9), so ‘Fourth Fridays’ visitors can try their hand at making a glass bead at $5 per bead, a unique keepsake of their Art Walk at Studioplex.
A number of other galleries and lofts will be open during the ‘Fourth Fridays’ Art Walk at Studioplex, including:
- The Dale family – Phil, Lisa and their 12-year-old daughter Angelique – who will share their collection of paintings and handmade jewelry in their home studio, Loft 132 (www.StudioPhilLisa.com);
- The Aviary, an organic beauty collective / boutique spa, is in Loft 125, (www.aviarybeauty.com). Join Amy Leavell Bransford, a licensed esthetician, and her team for an open house. The Aviary’s focus is on organic sustainable beauty including skin care from Dr. Hauschka, Juice Beauty & Farmaesthetics;
- Jenn Green will present Drea James Jewelry, one of a kind, handmade jewelry designs (www.dreajames.com). The pieces have sterling silver, copper and gold filled chains and wire with vintage beads, semi-precious stones, Swarovski crystals, metal accents and glass beads. Beads and findings are purchased in small batches to keep all pieces unique….special and timeless.
